Hi, I’m Tahlia! I’m the scribbler and photo-taker behind Toomuchloveliness.com!

Toomuchloveliness.com is a Cape Town based blog focusing on local travel, food and wine! IΒ started the blog to share the things I’m excited about which range from the perfect poached egg, the five star hotels or budget weekend aways.

Check out my Food, Travel & Adventures, and Wine & Beer sections to find what you’re interested in the most! There is plenty of Travel & Adventure content on Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as they’re perfect day trip adventures and easy weekends away from Cape Town! And I’m working hard on putting together more Toomuchloveliness Guides to hidden gems like Paternoster!

Outside of blogging I happen to have a real job in finance. It amuses me on a daily basisΒ that someone thought I was responsible enough for medical aid and car insurance.
I spend a lot of time in restaurants moving people’s cell phones out of my photo. I’m also serious about taking photos with a wine glass against a pretty background. And I often get too involved in other people’s food orders even when they’re not seated at my table!

On this blog you’re going to find amazing restaurants, big glasses of wine and travelling adventures. Thanks for reading and happy exploring!

  1. Hello!
Like your blog / new website.
Do you have an email newsletter I can sign up to, or have a Facebook page I can like?
(as I dont Twitter / pininterest, too many different things for me to keep up with ;))

    1. Hi Marisa – sorry for the terribly late reply I have been gallivanting around Europe!
You have inspired me to get a newsletter! Scroll down a little and look to your left πŸ™‚ feel free to sign up!

  2. Hello!

Recently I entered a competition on your website and was then led by curiosity to further explore your blog, which is Absolutely Awesome! Have spent a few solid hours going through your older posts. Inspiring. All you need now is a facebook page …

    Keep on keeping πŸ™‚

    1. Also! Wanted to make a cafe suggestion:

      Orchard on Long
      Located at 211 Long street

They have a overwhelmingly healthy and delicious menu of smoothies and juices which you won’t find anywhere else in Cape Town, as well as sensational vegan desserts too!

      Check it out πŸ˜‰

    2. Thank you so much πŸ™‚ You have very much made my day! And thanks for the recommendation! Sounds absolutely delicious and I’m going to have to try it soon! πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Donna! Thanks so much for letting me know! When I changed the templates I must have messed it up! I have now changed the blog to fit it in! Hope that helps πŸ™‚

  3. Hey πŸ™‚
I need some of your expert advice! My boyfriend and I want to go away for our two year anniversary. We would like to go to a bnb/guest house with a nice restaurant nearby. Any recommendations? We don’t have an unlimited budget but want to spoil ourselves πŸ™‚
    Thanks so much

    1. Hi Simone! Goodness it is difficult to pick! If you want to splurge my recommendation would be Makeja House with dinner at Makaron. Its the most amazing experience but is pretty pricey.
Also Stellenbosch side I really enjoyed Webersburg and they have a great restaurant with a beautiful view. Another Stellies splurge would be Wedgeview which has an amazing restaurant too. I also love the guest house at L’Avenir – and their breakfast is fantastic!

Not on the blog yet but I have just come back from a trip to Cederberg and Citrusdal. I can highly recommend Wolfkop in Citrusdal which has an amazing jacuzzi! And Sandrift cottages in the Cederberg which also has a fantastic wine tasting and local Cederberg beer! I don’t know about great restaurants in the area but they are both self catering and you could do a fancy dinner at home with lovely wines πŸ™‚

      I hope I could help!! πŸ™‚

  4. Thanks so much! Helps a lot. Ill have a look at those.
Have you made any reservations for restaurant week? I made one at the Kitchen at Maison and Newton and Jonson in Hermanus. Do you know of any nice B&Bs in these areas?

    1. Hello hello! Absolutely no problem – I love giving recommendations πŸ™‚
I actually have – I booked for Equus at Cavalli and Raya (Kitima’s new restaurant in town). I’m really looking forward to it!
The Kitchen at Maison is amazing and you’re going to love it! I haven’t been to Newton Johnson but I’ve heard wonderful things – you’re have to give me the feedback!

I actually haven’t stayed over much in Franschhoek or Hermanus but Natalie from tailsofamermaid visited recently and where they stayed looked gorgeous! Maybe check out her post? Happy dining!! xx
