Friends of mine had been raving about the recently reopened Lanzerac Hotel and Spa. Lanzerac has been closed for the last little while for renovations due to a fire which unfortunately destroyed large parts of the hotel. They are now open again and are better than ever! Lanzerac is a serious luxury choice in the Stellenbosch Valley. If you’re looking for a glamorous weekend escape from the city then I would definitely recommend Lanzerac– tied closely with Majeka House. The one benefit that Lanzerac has is that they’re a working wine farm. This means large grounds and a tasting room right next to the hotel!

Toomuchloveliness: Lanzerac Hotel and Spa

The Deli at Lanzerac

After check in we decided to head down to the Lanzerac Tasting room and deli to explore what the farm had to offer! We enjoyed our wine tasting with their premium pinotage being a favourite. They have a lovely stoep outside the tasting room which will make the perfect spot on sunnier days.

We shared a gorgeous deli platter for lunch with farm fresh breads, charcuterie, cheeses, crackers, caramelised onions, preserves and cauliflower picalilli which I loved! If you’re looking to visit Lanzerac without the sleepover then this easy lunch stop will be the perfect excuse!

Our gorgeous room for the night

Our room delivered with serious WOW! I loved the luxurious wallpaper, giant chandelier and huge bed with ornate headboards! The rooms are huge with a little sitting room space, plenty of cupboards and a table set up outside in a sunny spot!

The mini bar is complimentary which was the perfect excuse to crack open a bottle of wine, grab some bar snacks and soak in a little sunshine!

I was absolutely obsessed with the bathroom – with “his and her” sinks, a giant shower and a Victorian style bath with a high back. I never knew a raised back bath was in my dream bathroom plan. Lanzerac has definitely changed that for me. The bath tub was utter bliss with old school taps, bubble bath at the ready and a gorgeous glass house roof! The added bonus is that Lanzerac has their own water source on the estate so you don’t need to worry about the water restrictions.

I would probably stay at Lanzerac even if they only let me into the bathroom! Luckily the room comes with that giant bed – which was perfect for a post bath snooze!

Breakfast with Lanzerac

Breakfast starts with a beautiful buffet filled with fresh fruits, cheeses, charcuterie, yoghurt pots and delicious pastries! I couldn’t resist trying all the pastries! Not joking… I tried every single pastry… they were all delicious!

The hot breakfast is ordered from the breakfast menu which is definitely the best hotel breakfast in my opinion. Jono ordered the three egg omelette which he enjoyed. I ordered both the salmon eggs benedict served on an English muffin with spinach and parmesan cream and the creamy oat bowl with sesame, rum anglaise, milk and whipped ivoire ganache.

The porridge sounded absolutely decadent and I had to try it. Sadly all I got was a pretty standard bowl of porridge… Either these ingredients don’t really make a difference or the chef forgot the added extras. Luckily the eggs benedict was a delicious breakfast and made up for the porridge. I was a little heartbroken when my breakfast arrived with the poached eggs already broken open. My waiter kind of shrugged as in “this happens lady…”. The service at breakfast was a little lackluster and certainly didn’t feel five star. However, all other service experiences at Lanzerac have been wonderful so I am hoping we just had a bad egg ;).

A morning stroll around Lanzerac to soak it all in!

We had one last stroll around the estate. It really is so beautiful and I was a little sad to be missing it in full summer weather! There are quite a few pools dotted around with my favourite being the giant sparkling blue pool with sun loungers and a little seated pool. I can just imagine myself lounging there with a cocktail.

A few of the rooms have smaller private pools which is such a nice touch if you’re looking for a little peace and quiet on your holiday.

And don’t forget their gorgeous spa

The Lanzerac spa is wonderful and absolutely five star. We have visited before and enjoyed a massage that left me feeling like I might float out of the room! The heated swimming pool and hot tub is open to hotel guests which is the perfect solution when visiting in winter. Hot tip – grab a few glossy magazines, a spot on the sun loungers and order a fruit smoothie from the bar! You’ll honestly feel like you’re the star of Sex and the City does Stellenbosch ;).

We had such a wonderful weekend escape with Lanzerac from our warm welcome to the delicious deli platter and our beautiful room. That glamorous bath tub was definitely a highlight and one I will not be forgetting any time soon. Just off to update my pintrest board on #bathroomgoals!
