Majeka House is my favourite hotel in Stellenbosch. You would think with them being in the winelands they’d be on a lavish wine farm with rolling grounds. Majeka House is actually tucked away in the sleepy suburbs of Stellenbosch. The grounds are beautiful with giant cactus and bright blue furniture! I love the social areas and the hidden pig statues tucked all around the property! if you’re looking for a luxury weekend away the Majeka in Stellenbosch is definitely my top recommendation.

The famous swimming pool

The beautiful indoor swimming pool with jacuzzi is a huge plus meaning swimming is an option in both summer and winter! I love this space with their beautiful chandeliers and art feature wall! The spa at Majeka House is also well regarded and offers fantastic treatments. We had yet to try out the spa but it is definitely on the list!

Our beautiful hotel room

We had an incredible jungle room suite with a sitting room and private outside area. The doors open up onto an outside space with a private swimming pool you share with the room next door. The private pools are unfortunately not in use and are covered at the moment due to the drought crisis in the Western Cape. It is fantastic to see Majeka House taking positive action and doing their part to help save water.

Our bed was incredibly comfortable and we had an amazing nights sleep after a brilliant dinner at Makaron! Makaron is the restaurant on site at Majeka House and has an incredible small plates menu. You can read our full review of the experience over here.

The bathroom is large with his and her basins and lovely complimentary products on offer. I am obsessed with the beautiful bird screen on the shower door! The bath is missing the plug at the moment in an effort to help save water- another fantastic way Majeka is making an effort to save water. However, you won’t be missing the bath as the shower is fantastic and has incredible water pressure!

Breakfast at Majeka House

Breakfast with Majeka is a thing of beauty. I would go so far as to say it is one of the best hotel breakfasts ever. I could just spend all breakfast eating the pastries! The make the most sensational canelés and madeleines which are perfect with a strong cup of tea or coffee. They also served freshly pressed juices and smoothies if you’re not looking for a caffeine fix!

We also ordered a eggs from their a la carte menu. I had an eggs benedict which was lovely. Jono had a potato rosti with smoked salmon and creme fraiche and was the winning breakfast dish!

You can actually join Makeja in Stellenbosch for breakfast even if you didn’t stay with the hotel and I would highly recommend this! It would be an amazing special breakfast to celebrate a birthday!
