As some one who grew up on the Atlantic Seaboard side of Cape Town I have spent a lot of time at The Radisson. My family did many Sunday brunches, I have enjoyed plenty of sun-downers on their deck and I can tell you their chilli poppers are great! And I can remember sitting on their deck near the pool and thinking how very fabulous the guests staying over at The Radisson must be. I now know how fabulous they must have felt and I am really smug about it.
From our first step in the door to our last out we received the most wonderful service. Every door was held open, we were always greeted and nothing was too much effort for the friendly staff at The Radisson. The Radisson is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed every minute of being there!
My sweetheart was away for work so I thought I’d treat my mom to a little escape away. Our room was huge and came with a lovely little sitting room which made for a great social space. Its a wonderful luxury to have somewhere else to enjoy in your room. You’re often faced with the option of sitting on the bed or maybe one lone chair in the room. Having the lounge space meant we could tuck into snacks, curl up on the couches and have a catch up whilst admiring the view!
I haven’t slept in a single bed for a very long time and was convinced I was going to fall out of it. The bed proved plenty big enough and we both had an amazing nights sleep waking up feeling like we’d been away for the whole weekend!
My very favourite thing about our room at The Radisson was the jaw-dropping view! I kept popping my head out and looking around to see something new. I loved the expanse of the ocean and spent Sunday morning shouting through to my mom: “I cannot believe how many boats are out here!”
I know most people book fancy hotels with their plus one and not their mom! I got a sneak peak of the rooms with king sized beds and they are just as fantastic! So if you are looking for something a little more romantic than a girls night with your mom, The Radisson certainly has you covered! The giant king size bed and crisp white linen will have you wanting to spend your weekend right there!
Due to The Radisson’s central location you can spend a day lazing at the hotel or head out for a little exploring. We aimed for a little bit of both! After we dropped off our bags we took a quick five minute walk to the Oranjezicht City Farm market at The Waterfront. This market was amazing and was a great choice for a quick lunch on they go. If you’re looking to visit The Waterfront shopping centre its a quick five minute walk from there.
After a busy afternoon in the sunshine we headed back to our room. My mom headed down for a massage at their spa whilst I climbed into my pyjamas and read my book on the bed. We met in our room again and popped a bottle of bubbles and soaked in the sunset!
When I popped my head out onto our balcony to take a quick sunset photo I noticed all the rooms along the way were doing the exact same thing! It really was quite comical – but a view worth photographing!
Post sunset and pre-dinner I treated myself to the luxury of a hotel bath tub! I have a bath at home but always feel it is such an extravagance both in terms of water and electricity. But when I stay in hotels I always pack my bubble bath and make sure to have a soak with a good book! My hot hotel packing tip is to always pack bubble bath. The Radisson pays such attention to detail that my hot tip wasn’t even necessary! The Radisson was kitted up with fantastic bath salts and all the other gorgeous bath products you can expect when staying five star!
After an amazing nights sleep we headed down for my mom’s favourite part of a hotel visit: The hotel breakfast!
I have always enjoyed breakfast at The Radisson but it appears they have managed to step it up another notch this time round! I loved their freshly squeezed orange juice station – and started my morning with a big glass of vitamin C and a whole load of sea views.
I loved a good hotel breakfast because I can indulge all the cravings. I like savoury options like smoked salmon, Camembert and sundried tomatoes for breakfast but also can’t resist a little bit of sweet! With The Radisson you never need to chose! My first taste for breakfast was pieces of the most perfect succulent tender fillet of smoke salmon with cream cheese, onion and micro herbs. This was quickly followed by two delightful little quiche tarts with flaky phyllo pastry and a rich eggy filling.
If you had a big night don’t miss our on their DIY Bloody Mary station! We paid for our champagne indulgence with fresh strawberry drinking yoghurts and waffles topped with syrup, crispy bacon and orange juice!
Our stay at The Radisson was a perfect slice of luxury and set us up for another week out in the real work! However, we wanted to extend our stay a little longer and I booked a gelish manicure for the Sunday afternoon. I have recently become a little obsessed with French polish gelish manicures and now need a new one about every three weeks. To date The Radisson gel manicure is my absolute favourite to date and I will be heading back soon! I would highly recommend extending the weekend with a little spa treatment to send you home!
